The Rev. Christopher Garcia

The Rev. Christopher Garcia joined the staff at Christ Church, Georgetown, on July 1, 2010, as Assistant to the Rector for Youth and Family Ministry, after his graduation from Virginia Theological Seminary and ordination in the Diocese of Virginia. 

Fr. Garcia entered seminary after a 25-year career in the U.S. Army, serving as an Army attorney in The Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  He worked as a criminal trial lawyer, taught law, and led law offices in Texas and Maryland.  His final years of active duty were in the Pentagon, supporting international treaty negotiations, and later advising on military personnel law.

Throughout his military career, Fr. Garcia had active lay ministries.  Frequent military transfers took him and his family to fourteen Episcopal congregations across the U.S., Korea, and Germany.  During seminary, he served at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, Purcellville, Virginia, and Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, Virginia.

Fr. Garcia, his wife, Cheryl, and their two children, Elizabeth and Thomas, live in Springfield, Virginia.
