Spring Women's Bible Study: Early Christian Letters
Tuesdays—April 24, May 8 and 22, June 12
6:30 p.m.—Fellowship; 7 to 8 p.m.—Bible Study
3rd floor Memorial Room, Parish Hall
This series will study several of the biblical letters of the early church, often called the “general” or “catholic” epistles, including James; 1 and 2 Peter; and 1 John.
In addition to studying the letters, we will also read the book entitled Early Christian Letters for Everyone, written by N.T. Wright. This book provides an accessible and brief commentary on these letters from a well regarded New Testament scholar.
Schedule of readings:
April 24: The Letter of James; pp. 3-44 of the Wright book
May 8: The First Letter of Peter; pp. 47-98 of the Wright book
May 22: The Second Letter of Peter; pp. 101-125 of the Wright book
June 12: The First Letter of John; pp. 129-169 of the Wright book
**Please note that the Wright book reads quickly. If time does not permit you to read all of the Wright reading, choose sections that correlate to passages in the scripture that especially interest you.
All women are welcome!
