2011 Canterbury Pilgrimage

Our first day in England on a weeklong pilgrimage.  Had a fun day exploring a 500+ year old castle, visited the Long Man, ate at the famous Lambs Inn and made our home this evening in Alfriston.  A beautiful day topped off with compline.  Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

England Day Two. Had a wonderful transition to Canterbury. Enjoyed morning prayer at the White Cliffs of Dover, explored Canterbury a bit en route to visit the Grey Friars. We took in a bit of history at the friary complex and then reflected what our pilgrim journey means. Went on to visit the Canterbury Museum. Had a great day.

England Day Three. This was our Sabbath Day rest. CCG had front row seats in the Cathedral for the 11am Sung Eucharist. After which Rev. Garcia took the team on a GREAT tour of the Cathedral Grounds - giving historical insight along the way. Then it was off to lunch at an English Pub where we took in some needed rest. Finally, we finished our day touring St. Augustine's Abby. The team participated in evening prayer in the ruins of this historic place. Now off to dinner and play time at Dane John Mound - a park in Canterbury.

England Day Four. Today was our transition day from Canterbury to London.  We enjoyed and beautiful Eucharist service in the Crypt of the Cathedral in Canterbury prior to a time of reflection in All Saints Chapel.  A small chapel tucked into the walls of the Cathedral.  Then we settled in N. London.  We navigated the tube to downtown where we took a river boat down the Thames for a view of the major sites from a different vantage point.

England Day Five. Today we had a great time on pilgrimage at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. After a tour and time of reflection we participated in a midday Eucharist. Following, all went in different groups to take in London. This evening we had our celebration meal on the Thames River and then concluded with a private Eucharist at Christ Church Highbury. A wonderful and powerful experience.
