The Rev. Deirdre A. Eckian

Ms. Eckian has served as Assistant to the Rector at Christ Church, Georgetown since May 2006.   In conjunction with the Director of Religious Education, Deirdre oversees and provides leadership to the Youth and Family Ministries program, including the Sunday School, youth groups, and family events.   Deirdre also coordinates the youth acolytes and lectors who serve during the 9 a.m. service and leads the Women’s Bible Study.

Deirdre attended seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.  Prior to seminary, she worked with persons with severe mental illnesses as a case manager and vocational specialist.  Deirdre served from 1997-98 in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, a transformational faith-based service program.  Deirdre and her husband, James Leslie, live in the Glover park neighborhood of northwest Washington.
