The Choir of Christ Church
Christ Church, Georgetown, is blessed with a rich musical tradition, the primary focus of which is the preparation and performance of beautiful, finely-crafted music for the glory of God and the edification of the worshiping community week after week. Under the direction of Thomas P. Smith, Organist and Choirmaster, the Choir of Christ Church is comprised of some of the region’s finest professional singers. Drawing upon the very best the Anglican tradition has to offer, this group of twelve voices sings a broad array of choral literature spanning many centuries - from plainsong to the works of living composers.
The Choir provides musical leadership at the 11:15 a.m. service - Holy Eucharist or Morning Prayer - each Sunday and for special liturgies throughout the year. The Choir also sings the quintessentially Anglican service of Choral Evensong on the first and third Sundays of the month, October through May, at 5:00 p.m. A quartet from the Choir sings at the 9:00 a.m. Eucharist each Sunday. On occasion, additional singers are added as required by the literature at hand.
