Marriage is a sacrament of the church and thus is a profound experience and expression of love that begins with God and is shared by God’s creation. The “bond and covenant of marriage was established by God in creation and Holy Scripture commends it to be honored by all people. The union of husband and wife in heart, body, and mind is intended by God for their mutual joy; for help and comfort in prosperity and adversity; and when it is God’s will for the procreation of children…” These words speak of the profound nature and joy of Christian marriage.
At Christ Church marriages are celebrated and blessed throughout the year. If you desire to be married in the church you should contact the parish clergy as far in advance as possible. Pre-marital counseling is a requirement.
Typically marriages are celebrated at Christ Church by members of the parish. Church members are defined as regularly attending worshipers, known to the clergy, and contributors of record, for at least one year before the date of the wedding. However, there are circumstances in which non-member marriages are celebrated at Christ Church. It is hoped that for non-members the preparation for marriage within the church will present opportunities to re-engage the Christian faith for one or both parties.
